Cereal is one of my favourite things in the whole world. It can be for breakfast, lunch, snack or dinner. It stores well (which means you can buy it on sale) and if you choose things like GF Krispy Rice or GF “Cheerios”, you can use it in a variety of ways, besides the cereal and milk.

I just bought Nature’s Path Crispy Rice that was on a buy 3 get one free sale. That included the jumbo bags ($9.99 each), so of course I bought 4 assorted items. Hey, 10 bucks saved is 10 bucks for something else. Here are some ideas for using cereal:

Trail mix (raisins, cereals, cranberries, a few gfcf chocolate chips, mini marshmallows)
Rice Krispie Cake (remember, Kellogg’s is not GF)
Crushed to make a coating for chicken nuggets/strips
Crushed to add bulk or binder to a meatloaf or meatballs
Simple snack bag – just the cereal

You have to watch, but cereal can be a great bargain. Get it on sale, slice a fruit over the top, add a bit of milk substitute (we love vanilla almond milk on krispies) and you have a full-meal deal.
